Steam Carpet Cleaning
Hot water extraction is going to be the most effective at removing the most amount of soil and should be your go to method for restorative cleaning. When done right it will leave the carpet exceptionally clean and residue free. It is the only method that rinses the carpet with water to remove soil and residue. It is also the only way that you can treat pet contamination issues effectively,

Absorbant Pad Cleaning
This method uses a 175 RPM floor machine in conjunction with an absorbent pad in order to absorb the various soils from the carpet being cleaned. This system is used extensively in the commercial market by carpet cleaners as well as janitorial companies, Vacuuming dry soil is very very important with absorbent pad cleaning as there is no way to extract it otherwise. A detergent is sprayed onto the carpet in a small area (100-300 sf). It emulsifies the soil and provides lubrication for the absorbent pad. The pad is then run over the carpet in a patter to absorbs the soils from the carpet. Pads are changed as they become saturated with soil and detergent.

Encapsulation Cleaning
You will see that this system looks very similar to the previous cleaning method, and it is, However it can be very different as well depending on the type of agitation that you choose. The key to encapsulation cleaning is agitation, the more the better. This system uses a liquid polymer prespray, After the chemical is applied it is then agitated in one of several ways. You can use absorbent pads, counter rotating brush machine, or scrubbing pads. The difference with this system is you are not attempting to remove the soil.
Thats right no removal. We are encapsulating the soil not removing it. Now, it will come out but not when you clean it. As it dries the polymer prespray will surround the soil and dry to a crystal. Once in crystal form it renders the soil harmless and will break loose from the fibers and be removed during normal vacuuming. It sounds strange but this system works so well in a commercial setting that it is becoming a very popular method to use.
